THE STORY
After losing her uncle and grandmother in 2018, two months apart due to different illnesses and learning about a fatal private jet accident back in her home country where 11 amazing young woman died, Arsal; the writer and director was pursuing her masters degree in the US. During this time she witnessed the horrors of the Florida School Shooting followed by the death of many individuals including celebrities due to suicide caused by major depression. These unfortunate incidents had significant impacts on many communities, pushing teenagers and young adults to create and participate in captivating movements aimed to spread awareness on gun control and suicide prevention.
The main story line in Reverb was inspired by these events focusing on the intense elements of any mourning process that leads to emotional breakdowns, depression, eating disorders, and trauma which was also derived from Arsal’s personal experiences.
